The Northeast Valley Health Corporation is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of:     

Nurse Educator

  

Definition:      The Nurse Educator identifies the educational needs of the staff, develops and implements training to meet those needs.  Is responsible form maintaining annual competencies, ensuring that procedures are being done according to policies and procedures.  Develops clinic protocols according to NEVHC guidelines, current research and standards of care.  Laboratory - ensuring proper handling of equipment, education relative to use of new equipment.

 

Qualifications:

1.      Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid, current CA Registered Nurse

          license to practice.

2.      Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or a related health field desired.

3.      Two (2) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of one year of

         experience in Nursing Education.  Previous acute care experience preferred.
4.      Must have previous teaching experience either in staff education or in a 
         classroom setting teaching LVN's or RN's.

5.      Current, valid CA Driver’s License, valid vehicle liability insurance, and an available

          vehicle needed.

6.       Must maintain a current Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, in compliance 
          with corporate CPR policy.

7.       Must have knowledge of adult learning theories.
8.       Must have experience developing policies and procedures and protocol development.
9.       Must possess excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to present in front of a
          group.

Reports to:     Director of Nursing

 

Responsibilities:     

1.    Must be able to work independently.
2.    Must have flexible schedule to meet the educational needs of the staff.
3.    Must be willing to drive to multiple clinica sites.  

4.    Develops needs assessments, scopes of work, program reports and evalua­tion plans.

5.    Assists in the development and implementation of curriculum for nurses and unlicensed

       assistive personnel.

6.    Assists in staff training as needed on programmatic or clinical issues related to care

       delivery.

7.    Participates in ongoing training and staff development activities.

8.    Coordinates CPR training for clinical staff in conjunction with the OVMC Nursing

        Education Department.

9.     Oversees daily quality control activities of NEVHC laboratory departments.

10.   Ensures completion and submission of laboratory proficiency testing and provider

         performed microscopy at all NEVHC laboratory departments.

11.      Participates in the NEVHC Quality Management process.

12.      Assists Director of Nursing in the development and implementation of protocols and

         procedures, and in staff training to maintain the competency levels of all clinical staff, in

         accordance with corporate standards for clinical practice.

13.  Customer Service- Treats customers, patients, co-workers, and others with dignity,

        respect and trust.  Is able to work effectively by sharing ideas in a constructive and

        positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from

        others; keeping commitment; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and

        issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and

        practical solutions; addressing others by name, title or other respectful identifier, and

        respecting the diversity of our workforce in action, words and deeds.

14.  Participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to a disaster control or

        fire safety response team.

15.  Participates in hazardous waste and infection control assignments as required in the

        health center which may include being designated as an emergency responder to a

        hazardous substance release or spill; performing infection control data collection,

        evaluation, reporting and follow-up as specified in the NEVHC clinical health services

        policy and procedures manual.

16.  Performs other tasks as may be assigned by the Director of Nursing.
